Vendor Spotlight: Why You Can't Go Wrong with Dan Quinn and DQB Entertainment

At Knotting Hill Place, we put a lot of emphasis on our partner relationships with spectacular DFW Wedding Vendors. Having a team of professionals who are truly passionate about their clients and events is an absolute key to ensuring that YOUR WEDDING is everything you’ve always dreamt it would be!

That’s why we are so incredibly excited to share our conversation with Dan Quinn, of DQB Entertainment! He is hands down one of the leading wedding and events entertainers in the industry and we are blessed to know him. Dan was introduced to the KHP team through a mutual client back in the early days of 2019, and everyone knew right away, it was a partnership match made in heaven! Having executed well over a dozen events with us, and many more on the calendar for the future, we can easily say, Dan Quinn is a wedding DJ like no other you’ve experienced, and you cannot go wrong having him perform and MC your best day ever.

Dan has been full-time in the music and events industry since 2014. He currently works independently alongside his “right hand man” Andrew who knows all of his systems inside and out, helps with setup & strike, puts out fires he didn’t even know existed, and captures it all on a GoPro along the way. But one well-known fact about Dan Quinn, is he has never met a stranger! He has a huge network of musicians, lighting designers, and others who he tends to bring in on events or special projects as needed to create the most awesome experiences possible.

We asked Dan for a little background on his experience and when he knew he wanted to be a wedding/event DJ and this is what he told us!

It’s kinda funny. If someone had told me that I was going to be a wedding DJ at this point in my life, there’s no way I would have believed them.

“It’s kinda funny. If someone had told me that I was going to be a wedding DJ at this point in my life, there’s no way I would have believed them. I would have laughed...and probably cringed! When I was younger, my image of a wedding DJ was some old guy in a cummerbund who won’t shut up and is trying to get people to do the electric slide.

I started playing music (live) at events in college. I knew that I loved moving people with music. My show kept evolving with lots of electronics and tech, and I started learning to DJ around 2011 as the EDM wave swept the US. That’s when I really knew. I’ve never seen people come together and go so wild before!

My love of music, tech, and bringing people together was keeping me very busy on the weekends, and in 2014, I finally left my engineering and sales management career behind to throw myself into music and events as a full time career.”

Dan told us he tries to limit himself to 40 events per year but has clocked in as many as 50 in previous years!

“I put an insane amount of preparation into every event that I do, along with exerting tons of physical, mental, and emotional energy on wedding days- so I feel that if I do any more than that, I’m doing my couples a disservice.”

He also does a few corporate, social, and fundraising events throughout the year. And somehow still finds time to operate OontzKids DJ Academy where he teaches kids and teens how to DJ and produce music through summer camps and after school programs. Giving back to the community such a real way!

From the venue perspective, we are often one of the first points of contact many clients have with their future wedding vendor team. We pride ourselves on really being able to identify client personalities and priorities, to make the most sincere vendor recommendations possible. That being said, we can easily all agree, Dan Quinn’s ideal client WANTS TO PARTY! Music is going to be a Top 3 Priority for the wedding as a whole. And Dan would describe the couple as probably having “been to concerts, clubs, and festivals around the world and have shared those experiences with the people they love most.”

We ended our interview by asking Dan about his favorite aspect of working with the KHP team. As a highly sought after wedding DJ in the Dallas- Fort Worth industry, he’s had the opportunity to work at dozens if not hundreds of other wedding venues.

But what he loves about Knotting Hill Place, is that we “ultimately provide a space where I am able to do my best work. They don’t put restrictions on me (and other creatives) like so many other venues do, and quite honestly, they bring me some of the coolest couples I’ve ever had the chance to work with.

Their room is setup for creating the ultimate club-style party experience, and they allow me to use the tools I need to create that.

Also, the team is a BLAST to work with! They all know their stuff inside and out, are super creative and fun, and feel like a part of my team. They’re a closely knit bunch that are not only fun to work with, but a team that you can trust has your best interests in mind.” You truly can’t beat a partnership like that! We’re all working together to curate an exceptional day for our mutual clients! Choosing to work with both Knotting Hill Place & DQB Entertainment, is a decision you will not regret!
